Engine oil change

To change the engine oil, you need to have the following replacement parts:

  • If the oil is not sucked out: the copper sealing ring of the oil drain plug bolt.
  • Oil filter suitable for the relevant model and year of manufacture.
  • Motor oil.

The oil level should be between the MAX and MIN marks on the end of the dipstick.

The oil level should be between the MAX…

Oil change is carried out depending on the engine type at different intervals, according to "Service plan". The oil filter is also replaced at the same time. Under severe operating conditions: frequent cold engine starts and very dusty roads, the oil and oil filter should be changed more often. Oil can be sucked out through a probe (at a gas station) and an oil measuring tube.

Oil drain

Warm up the engine to operating temperature (coolant temperature 80-90°C).

Raise the vehicle to a horizontal position.

Open the oil filler cap.

Unscrew the oil drain plug on the oil pan and drain the oil from the engine into a prepared container.

The presence of metal filings in the drained oil indicates damage, for example, to the crankshaft bearings or connecting rods. After engine repair, the oil channels should be thoroughly flushed.

Filling with oil

Tighten the drain plug with a torque of 40 Nm.

Lubricate the sealing ring surface (1) of the new filter with a small amount of clean engine oil.

Lubricate the sealing ring surface (1)…

Screw on a new oil filter that is appropriate for your vehicle model by hand. After the oil filter gasket has been seated against the engine block, tighten the filter another half turn with a tightening torque of 15 Nm.

Fill in new oil through the oil filler neck on the cylinder head. Check the engine oil level with a dipstick.

You should add ½ liter less oil, warm up the engine and after a few minutes check the oil level with the dipstick and top up if necessary. Suck out excess oil.

Check the tightness of the drain plug and oil filter, if necessary, carefully tighten.

After stopping the warm engine, check the oil level again and adjust it if necessary.

It is recommended to always use the same type and brand of oil when changing.
