Checking the technical condition
1. Turn off the ignition.
2. Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor (ECTS) connector.
3. Remove the ECTS sensor.
4. Place the ECTS thermistor in engine coolant and measure the resistance between terminals 3 and 4.
5. Check that the resistance matches the specification.
Removal
1. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position and disconnect the negative (-) cable from the battery.
2. Disconnect the coolant temperature sensor (ECTS) connector (A).
3. Remove the retainer (A) and remove the sensor from the coolant temperature control unit.
Caution: Be aware that leakage may occur when removing the sensor from the coolant temperature control unit.
4. Add coolant.
Installation
Attention.
- Tighten the component mounting bolts to the specified torque.
- Be careful not to drop the component. If dropped, the component must be carefully checked before installation.
- Use caution when installing the sensor.
- Lubricate the sealing ring with coolant.
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
