Note: Label all hoses to avoid wiring and mistakes when reconnecting.
Turn the crankshaft pulley so that the piston of cylinder No.1 is at top dead center (TDC).
1. Remove the intake and exhaust manifolds.
2. Remove the timing chain.
3. Remove the fuel rail (A).

4. Remove the glow plug (A) and disconnect the wire harness (B) with the plates.

5. Remove the vacuum pump (A) with the sealing ring (B).

6. Insert the dowel pin (B) into the intake camshaft intermediate gear (standard power engines only).
7. Remove the camshaft bearing caps (A).
Note: Mark the bearing caps so that they can be reassembled in their original position and orientation.

Caution: If the intake camshaft is removed without the dowel pin in the idler gear, the main gear and idler gear will be deformed. In this case, install the dowel pin in the intake camshaft with the main gear and idler gear aligned. Then install the camshaft.

8. Remove the intake and exhaust camshafts (A).

9. Remove the camshaft holder (A).

10. Remove the rocker arm (A) and hydraulic compensator (B).

11. Loosen the cylinder head bolts and remove the head:
Remove the side bolt (A) of the cylinder head.

Using a socket wrench with a 12PT bit, evenly loosen and unscrew the 10 cylinder head bolts in the sequence shown in the figure in several approaches.
Caution: If you loosen the bolts in the wrong order, the head may become warped or cracked.

Remove the cylinder head (A) from the cylinder block dowel pins and place it on wooden blocks on a work bench.
Caution: Be careful not to damage the contact surfaces of the cylinder head and the block itself.
11. Loosen the cylinder head bolts and remove the head:
Remove the cylinder head gasket (B).
