Windscreen wipers

The windshield wipers operate as follows when the ignition is on:
  • \/ - to perform one wiper cycle, move the lever to this position and release.
  • 0 - windshield wipers do not work.
  • --- - The windshield wipers operate intermittently with a constant frequency. Use this mode in drizzling rain or fog. To change the frequency of the windshield wipers, turn the knob.
  • 1 - normal speed of windshield wipers;
  • 2 - high speed of windshield wipers.

Note: If there is a thick layer of snow or ice on the windshield, before using the windshield wipers, to ensure normal operation, turn on the defroster for approximately 10 minutes or until the snow and/or ice is removed.

Automatic control (if available)

Automatic control (if available)

The rain sensor, located at the top of the windshield, detects the amount of precipitation and controls the frequency of the windshield wipers. The heavier the rain, the faster they operate. When the rain stops, the windshield wipers stop. To change the frequency of the windshield wipers, turn the knob (1).

If the windshield wiper switch is set to the AUTO mode, when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position, the windshield wiper will cycle once to perform a self-test of the system. When the windshield wiper is not in use, the switch should be set to the OFF position.

Attention.
  • When the ignition switch is on and the windshield wiper control switch is in the AUTO position, be careful in the following cases to avoid injury to your hands or other body parts.
  • Do not touch the top of the windshield where the rain sensor is installed.
  • Do not wipe the top of the windshield with a damp or wet cloth.
  • Do not press on the windshield.

Caution: When washing the vehicle, set the wiper control switch to the OFF position to disable the automatic wiper function. The wipers may operate and be damaged if the switch is in the AUTO position when washing the vehicle. Do not remove the sensor cover located at the top of the passenger side windshield. This may cause damage to the system components that will not be covered by the warranty. When starting the vehicle in winter, set the wiper control switch to the OFF position. Otherwise, the wipers may operate and ice may damage the wiper blades. Always remove all snow and ice and turn on the defroster before operating the wipers.

Windscreen washer (front)

With the lever in the OFF position, gently pull it toward you to spray fluid onto the windshield and operate the wipers for 1-3 cycles. Use this function when the windshield is dirty. The windshield washer and wipers will continue to operate until the lever is released. If the windshield washer does not operate, check the fluid level in the washer reservoir. If there is insufficient fluid, add a suitable, non-abrasive windshield washer fluid to the reservoir. The filler neck of the windshield washer reservoir is located at the front of the engine compartment on the passenger side.

Caution: To prevent possible damage to the windshield washer pump, do not operate the windshield washer without fluid in the reservoir.

Warning: Do not use the windshield washer in sub-zero temperatures without first heating the windshield with a heater; the aqueous solution may freeze on contact with the windshield and restrict visibility.

Attention.
  • To prevent damage to the wipers or windshield, do not operate the wipers if the windshield is dry.
  • To prevent damage to the wiper blades, do not allow them to come into contact with gasoline, kerosene, paint thinner or other solvents, or use these liquids in the immediate vicinity of the blades.
  • To prevent damage to the wiper arms and other components, do not attempt to move the wipers manually.

Rear Window Wiper and Washer Switch

Rear Window Wiper and Washer Switch

The rear window wiper and washer switch is mounted on the end of the windshield wiper and washer control lever. Turn the switch to the desired position to operate the rear window wiper and washer.
  • V - normal operation of the windshield wiper;
  • --- - intermittent wiper mode (if available);
  • O - the windshield wiper does not work.

O - the windshield wiper does not work.

Push the stalk lever away from you to spray fluid through the rear windshield washer and turn on the rear windshield wipers for 1-3 cycles. Spraying of the windshield washer fluid and windshield wiper operation continue until the stalk lever (if equipped) is released.
