The switch has three positions:
- 1. Intermittent mode;
- 2. Slow movement;
- 3. Fast movement.

Note: To prevent damage to the windshield wipers, do not attempt to clear heavy snow or ice with the wipers. Remove accumulated snow or ice manually. If there is only a light layer of snow or ice, turn the heater to the defroster mode and melt the snow or ice before using the wipers.
Automatic windscreen wiper (optional)
Fig. 1.50. Automatic windshield wiper activation
When the windshield wiper switch is in the "AUTO" position, the "rain" sensor located at the top of the windshield detects the amount of rainfall and automatically selects the wiper interval (Fig. 1.50).
Fig. 1.51. Rain sensor
Note: After clearing accumulated snow or ice from the windshield, wait 10 minutes for more accurate operation of the rain sensor (Fig. 1.51).
Caution! When the ignition switch is in the "ON" position and the windshield wiper switch is in the "AUTO" position, the windshield wipers may automatically resume operation and injure your hands. Do not touch the upper part of the windshield where the "rain" sensor is located. Do not wipe the upper part of the windshield with a cloth. Do not press on the windshield.
Windshield washer operation
Fig. 1.52. Windshield washer operation
Washer fluid is supplied to the windshield by moving the wiper/washer switch lever towards the steering wheel. When the windshield washer is turned on, the wipers will automatically perform two strokes at the same time as the washing fluid is supplied (Fig. 1.52).
The washer will stop working when the windshield wiper/washer switch is released.
Note: Do not operate the washer for more than 15 seconds or when the washer reservoir is empty. In cold weather, make sure the wiper blades are not frozen to the glass before using the wiper. In areas where water freezes in winter, use antifreeze windshield washer fluid.
Windshield defogging
Fig. 1.53. Removing fog from the windshield
To clear the windshield of mist (single wiper stroke), pull up the windshield wiper/washer switch (Fig. 1.53).
Windscreen wiper operation with variable interval wiper blade operation mode (additional equipment)
Fig. 1.54. Operation of the windshield wiper with a variable interval of the windshield wiper blade operating mode
To use the variable interval wiper mode, move the wiper switch to the "INT" ("Intermittent") position (Fig. 1.54).
In this switch position, the intermittent wiper interval can be changed from 1 to 18 seconds by turning the adjustment wheel on the switch lever. The interval is selected depending on the vehicle speed.
Rear window wiper and washer (optional)
Fig. 1.55. Switching on the rear window wiper and washer
1. Washer fluid is supplied to the rear window, and the wiper operates when the switch lever tip is in this position.
2. In the "ON" position, the rear window wiper operates continuously.
3. After the fluid is supplied to the rear window, the windshield wiper operates 2–3 times.
Note: Do not operate the washer for more than 15 seconds or when the washer reservoir is empty: this may damage the system. Do not operate the wiper on a dry glass; this may result in scratches on the glass or premature wear of the wiper blades. For the same reason, do not operate the windshield wiper when the washer reservoir is empty.
