Opening the tailgate


The tailgate is locked and unlocked simultaneously with all side doors using the key, transmitter (or electronic key) or central locking switch.

Once the lock has been unlocked, the tailgate can be opened by pressing the handle and pulling it towards you.

If you press the tailgate unlock button on the electronic key for more than one second when the doors are locked, the tailgate will be unlocked. After opening and closing the tailgate, it will be locked automatically.

Note: In cold and damp climates, door locks and mechanisms may not function properly due to freezing.


Caution: The tailgate swings upward. Make sure there are no objects or people near the rear of the vehicle when opening the tailgate.


Caution: Before moving the vehicle, make sure that the tailgate is closed. Otherwise, the tailgate lifting cylinders and its fastening units may be damaged.

To close the tailgate, lower it and slam it firmly. Make sure the tailgate latch is securely locked.



Caution: Make sure that your hands are not in the path of the closing door.


Caution: When closing the tailgate, make sure there are no foreign objects near the locking parts. This may damage the tailgate lock.


Warning: Exhaust fumes. When driving with the tailgate open, exhaust fumes will enter the vehicle, which can cause serious harm to the health or even death of the occupants. If you must drive with the tailgate open, open all vents and windows to ensure additional air flow into the vehicle from outside.


Warning. Rear luggage compartment. It is not permitted to transport people in the rear luggage compartment of a vehicle that does not have any means of restraining passengers. To prevent bodily injury in the event of an accident or sudden stop of the vehicle, people in the vehicle must be securely restrained.

There is an emergency release lever at the bottom of the tailgate. If the tailgate is accidentally locked while a person is inside the luggage compartment, the tailgate can be opened using this lever.

Attention.
  • It is important to be familiar with the location of the trunk release lever in your vehicle and the procedure for unlocking the door in case you find yourself locked inside the trunk in an unexpected situation.
  • Under no circumstances should people be allowed inside the trunk of a car. This area is extremely dangerous in the event of a traffic accident.
  • Use the inside tailgate release lever only in emergency situations. Exercise extreme caution when driving.
