Checking the technical condition of gears, tensioners, pulleys and drive belts (Hyundai Tucson JM)

1. Check the camshaft and crankshaft gears, tensioner pulleys and intermediate pulleys for damage, cracks and signs of excessive wear. If defects are found, replace the parts with new ones.

3. Replace the pulley if lubricant leaks from its bearing.

4. Check the drive belts for contamination with lubricants or dust. If contamination is found, replace the belts with new ones. Remove minor contamination with a dry cloth or paper. Never use solvents to clean the drive belts.

5. After overhauling the engine or adjusting the drive belt tension, check the belt with special care. If any of the above faults are detected, replace the belt.

Note:
  • Do not bend, twist or turn the drive belt inside out.
  • Do not allow the drive belt to come into contact with lubricants, steam or water.
