Note: Do not turn the camshaft during the technical condition check.
1. Install the camshaft (A) into the cylinder head (C) and bearing caps (B), then tighten the mounting bolts in the sequence shown in the figure to a tightening torque of 26.5-29.5 Nm.

2. Install the dial indicator.
3. Set the dial indicator to zero, then measure the axial clearance by moving the camshaft back and forth. The permissible clearance is 0.05-0.15 mm.

4. Loosen the camshaft bearing cover mounting bolts. Remove the camshaft and inspect its surface for damage and excessive wear. Inspect the working surface of the bearings for damage and wear. Place calibrated plastic wire on the camshaft and install the camshaft in the cylinder head.
5. Install the bearing caps and tighten the mounting bolts to the required tightening torque.
6. Remove the camshaft bearing caps. Using a special template, measure the gap between the camshaft and the bearing. The permissible gap value is 0.040-0.074 mm.

7. If the clearance exceeds the permissible value and the camshaft has been replaced, the cylinder head must be replaced.
If the camshaft has not been replaced, it is necessary to measure the runout using a dial indicator. The permissible runout value of the camshaft journals is 0.035 mm (2nd and 4th) and 0.050 mm (3rd).

If the camshaft runout does not exceed the permissible value, it is necessary to replace the cylinder head. If the runout exceeds the permissible value, it is necessary to replace the camshaft. Then re-measure the clearance between the camshaft bearings and journals, if the clearance exceeds the permissible value, it is necessary to replace the cylinder head.
8. Measure the camshaft cam height (A). The height of the intake cams is 34.697-34.197 mm and the exhaust cams are 34.570-34.070 mm.

9. Using a feeler gauge and a ruler, measure the non-flatness of the mating surface of the cylinder head with the cylinder. If the non-flatness does not exceed 0.03 mm in width, 0.09 mm in length and 0.012 mm diagonally (51 x 51 mm), the cylinder head can be reused.

Note: Measurements should be taken in the planes indicated in the figure.

10. If one of the values exceeds the permissible limit, the cylinder head must be replaced.
