The indicator lamp sectors should light when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" position and go out after three seconds. If the "ESP" or "ESP OFF" lamp does not go out, take the vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealer to have the system checked.
The parking brake and brake fluid level indicator lamp comes on when the parking brake is applied and the ignition key is in the "ON" or "START" position. The lamp should go out after the engine is started and the parking brake is released. If the parking brake is not applied, the lamp comes on when the ignition key is in the "ON" or "START" position and goes out after the engine is started. If the lamp comes on in any other cases, you must reduce your speed and stop the vehicle in a safe place on the road. In this case, the indicator lamp comes on to indicate that the brake fluid level in the brake system has dropped too low and that it needs to be restored to normal by adding brake fluid that meets DOT 3 and DOT 4 specifications.
If no other faults are found after the brake fluid level has been restored, the vehicle should be taken to a Hyundai dealer for inspection immediately and with caution. If other faults with the brake system are found, further driving should be stopped and the vehicle should be taken to a Hyundai dealer by towing service or other means.
Your vehicle is equipped with a braking system with diagonally split circuits. This means that if one of the circuits fails, the brakes on the other two wheels of the vehicle continue to operate. If one of the brake hydraulic circuits fails, the brake pedal travel increases and more force is required to stop the vehicle. This increases the braking distance of the vehicle. If the brake system malfunctions while driving, use engine braking by engaging a lower gear and stop the vehicle in a safe place as soon as possible.
Note: To prevent the driver from forgetting to leave the key in a locked vehicle, the indicator lamp lights when the ignition key is in the LOCK position and one of the doors is not closed. The buzzer sounds only when the key is in the LOCK position and the driver's door is not closed. The buzzer sounds and the lamp remains lit until the key is removed from the ignition.
This light also comes on when there is a malfunction in the SRS supplemental restraint system. If the air bag indicator light does not come on or does not go out after the ignition switch is turned to the "ON" position or after the engine is started, or comes on while the vehicle is being driven, have the SRS supplemental restraint system checked by an authorized Hyundai dealer.
Note: If the engine does not start within 10 seconds after the preheating cycle has ended (after the indicator lamp goes out), turn the ignition switch to the "LOCK" position again, then to the "ON" position to repeat the preheating cycle.
