Wheel beating (Hyundai Elantra J1)

0
To measure the amount of wheel runout, use a dial indicator. In this case, the wheel can remain on the car or be removed. In the latter case, the wheel must be secured to the hub, for example, on a balancing stand. Measurements are taken on the wheel with the tire removed or installed. Radial and axial runout are measured on the inner and outer sides of the wheel rim. The indicator must be firmly fixed to a fixed support. The runout is measured by slowly rotating the wheel, according to the indicator readings for one revolution of the wheel. If the runout value is outside the permissible limits or wheel vibration cannot be eliminated by balancing, the wheel must be replaced. When measuring runout, do not take into account errors introduced by unevenness of the wheel surface: welded seams, paint smudges, scratches, etc.
  • Steel wheels radial runout - 0.8 mm; axial runout - 1.0 mm.
  • Aluminum wheels radial runout - 0.78 mm; axial runout - 0.8 mm.

Aluminum wheels radial runout - 0.78 mm; axial runout - 0.8 mm.
