Note: Do not apply too much force when turning the steering wheel.
2. Raise the car.

3. Unscrew the 14 mm bolt, three nuts and remove the engine support bracket.

4. Remove the accessory drive belts and water pump pulley.
5. Remove 4 bolts and remove the upper timing belt cover.
6. Remove the lower timing belt cover.
7. Turn the crankshaft clockwise and align the timing marks so that the piston in the first cylinder is positioned at top dead center at the end of the compression stroke.
Note: Rotate the crankshaft only clockwise, otherwise the belt tension will not be adjusted correctly.

8. Loosen the bolt on the tensioner pivot point side and the bolt on the spline side.

9. Turn the crankshaft clockwise a full 2 teeth on the pulley.
10. Make sure that the teeth of the pulley and timing belt match.
11. First tighten the bolt on the spline side and second tighten the bolt on the tensioner pivot point side.
12. Turn the crankshaft pulley two turns clockwise to properly seat the timing belt on the pulleys.
13. Using a screwdriver, insert the lower end of the tension roller spring behind the front cover of the cylinder block.
14. Install the lower timing belt cover.
15. Install the upper timing belt cover.
16. Install the water pump pulley and engine mount bracket.
