Removal
Raise the car, remove the front wheel.
Front wheel hub drive mounting nut
Knock out the cotter pin and unscrew the front wheel hub mounting nut.
Pressing out the ball joint pin of the steering tie rod end from the steering knuckle using the puller 09568-34000
Press the ball joint pin of the tie rod end out of the steering knuckle using puller 09568-34000.
Fastening the suspension strut to the steering knuckle
Disconnect the suspension strut from the steering knuckle.
Drain the oil from the gearbox housing.
Knocking out the wheel drive shaft from the hub with a plastic mallet
Use a plastic mallet to knock the wheel drive shaft out of the hub.
Insert a pry bar between the gearbox housing and the inner joint housing of the wheel drive shaft and, using the pry bar as a lever, separate the shaft from the gearbox.
Separate the wheel hub from the drive shaft by moving the hub toward you.
Warning: Replace the inner joint circlip with a new one each time it is removed.
Anti-vibration weight on the drive shaft
Check the anti-vibration weight for cracks and wear.
Warning: Replace the self-locking nut and cotter pin with new ones after each removal.
Installation
The outer diameter of the retaining ring of the inner shaft joint must be equal to 27+0.4 mm.
Tighten the threaded connections to the torques specified below.
Notes:
- When carrying out repair work, disassembling the outer hinge is not permitted.
- A special lubricant is placed in the shaft joints. It is not recommended to use lubricants of other brands.
- Replace the protective cover mounting clamps with new ones each time they are removed.
Tightening torques for threaded connections, Nm
- Tie Rod End Ball Joint Fastening Nut — 24–34
- Nuts for mounting bolts of suspension strut to steering knuckle — 110–130
- Wheel hub nut - 200-260
Note: If reusing the boots, wrap the shaft splines with tape to avoid damaging the boots when removing.
Apply transmission oil to the splined end of the inner joint of the wheel drive shaft and the mating surface of the transmission housing.
When connecting the wheel drive shaft to the gearbox housing, be careful not to damage the mud deflector ring.
Retaining ring of the inner joint of the drive shaft
Before connecting the shaft to the gearbox, install the retaining ring on it with the slot facing down.
After installing the shaft, make sure that it does not move with manual force.
Install the washers with the concave side facing inward, tighten the hub mounting nut and secure it with a cotter pin.
Warning: Make sure the clamps are securely fastened to prevent the clamps from becoming loose during vehicle operation.
