This indicator lamp (SRI) lights up and flashes for approximately 6 seconds after the ignition key is turned to the "ON" (On) or after starting the engine, after which it goes out. This warning lamp also lights up in the event of a malfunction of the additional passive restraint system (SRS). If the control lamp (SRI) does not light up or stays on steadily after flashing for approximately 6 seconds after the ignition key is turned to "ON" (On) or lights up while the car is moving, take the car to an authorized Hyundai dealer to check the additional passive safety system (SRS).
- Anti-lock braking system malfunction indicator lamp (ABS) (SRI) (optional equipment).
After turning the ignition key to position "ON" (On), the control lamp for indicating a malfunction of the anti-lock braking system lights up (ABS SRI) and then goes off after a few seconds. If this lamp stays on, comes on while driving, or does not come on after the ignition key is turned to "ON" (On), this indicates a malfunction of the anti-lock brake system (ABS). If this happens, you need to contact an authorized Hyundai dealer as soon as possible to check the car. The standard brake system will continue to work, but without the help of anti-lock brakes (ABS).
Attention: If both anti-lock brake system malfunction indicator lamps (ABS SRI) and the Parking Brake/Brake Fluid Level Warning Light stay on after the engine is started or come on while the vehicle is moving, E.V.O. system may be malfunctioning (Electronic brake force distribution). If this happens, avoid sudden braking and contact an authorized Hyundai dealer as soon as possible on the day the vehicle is checked.
- Control lamp off overdrive (optional equipment).
When overdrive is engaged, the overdrive off warning lamp will be cancelled. When overdrive is disengaged, this lamp will glow red.
- Indicator lamps for direction indicators.
A green arrow will flash on the instrument panel to indicate the direction of the turn. If the arrow illuminates but does not flash, flashes too fast, or does not flash at all, this indicates a fault in the turn signal circuits. Contact your authorized Hyundai dealer for the day of repair.
- Control lamp for turning on the high beam headlights.
This indicator lamp illuminates when the high beam headlights are on or the headlights are flashing.
- Oil pressure warning lamp.
Attention:
- Driving with a low engine oil level or oil pressure warning light on can result in engine damage (scoring, jamming, etc.). If this lamp lights up while the engine is running, it means that the engine oil pressure is below the minimum value. In good condition, this lamp lights up when the key in the ignition switch is turned to the position «ON» («On») and goes out after starting the engine. If this lamp stays on after starting the engine, there is a serious engine problem.
- In this case, immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place, turn off the engine and check the engine oil level.
- If the oil level is below the minimum level, add engine oil to the correct level and start the engine again. If the lamp stays on after starting the engine, turn off the engine immediately. In any case, when the oil pressure warning light stays on after starting the engine, have the car checked by the nearest authorized Hyundai dealer before using it.
- Indicator lamp for turning on the parking brake / emergency brake fluid level.
Warning: If you suspect a problem with the brake system, contact your nearest authorized Hyundai dealer as soon as possible to have the brake system checked. Driving a vehicle with a malfunction in the electrical circuits or hydraulic lines of the brake system is very dangerous and can result in serious or even fatal injury.
Operation of the control lamp
The parking brake/brake fluid warning light should come on when the parking brake is applied and when the ignition key is turned to "ON" (On) or "START" (Starter). After starting the engine, this lamp should go out when the parking brake is released. When the parking brake is released, the parking brake/brake fluid warning light should come on when the ignition key is turned to "ON" (On) or "START" ("Starter") and go out after starting the engine. If this lamp comes on at any other time, you must slow down your vehicle and bring it to a complete stop on the side of the road in a safe place. The brake system warning light indicates that the brake fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir is below the minimum level and that DOT3 or DOT4 brake fluid needs to be added. After adding the brake fluid, if no more malfunctions are found, the car must be immediately taken to an authorized HYUNDAI dealer for inspection. If a malfunction of the brake system is found, the car is unacceptable and must be delivered to an authorized Hyundai dealer for inspection using a professional towing service. Your Hyundai vehicle is equipped with a dual circuit diagonal brake system. This means that even if one of the brake circuits is damaged, you can use two wheels for braking. In this case, more force on the brake pedal and more brake pedal travel will be required to stop the car. Moreover, the stopping distance of the car will be increased. If one of the brake circuits fails, shift to a lower gear to use the engine braking effect to stop the vehicle.
- Battery discharge warning lamp.
This lamp comes on when the ignition key is in the «ON» («On») and goes out after starting the engine. If this warning light stays on after starting the engine, there is a problem with the charging system. If this warning light comes on while the vehicle is moving, stop the vehicle immediately and look under the hood. First, make sure the alternator drive belt is intact, if it is intact, check its tension. After that, contact an authorized Hyundai dealer to check the charging system.
Caution: If the alternator drive belt becomes loose or breaks while the vehicle is in motion, serious engine damage can result. The engine can overheat because this belt also powers the engine coolant pump.
- Warning lamp for signaling an open rear door.
This lamp remains on until the tailgate is fully closed.
- Control lamp for signaling an open door.
This lamp warns you that one of the side doors of the vehicle is not fully closed.
- Fuel reserve warning lamp.
This lamp comes on when the fuel level in the fuel tank reaches the minimum reserve level. If this lamp is on, it indicates the need for refueling as soon as possible. Driving the vehicle with the fuel reserve warning lamp on or when the fuel level is below the mark "E" (empty) can cause misfiring and damage to the catalytic converter.
- Engine malfunction warning lamp (MIL) (optional equipment).
This lamp illuminates when a component failure is detected (details), relating to toxicity reduction systems. This lamp also comes on when the ignition key is turned to the «ON» («On»), and after starting the engine, it should go out.
