General information

The steering system consists of a steering wheel, a steering column, a steering rack and a steering rod. The steering wheel is fixed to the steering column shaft and transmits force to the rack and pinion.

On each side, the steering rack is connected to the transverse steering rod by a ball joint. The steering rods transmit force through the steering tips and steering knuckles to the front wheels. This steering design has an easy stroke with no play when turning the steering wheel from lock to lock.

To make it easier to turn the steering wheel, a hydraulic power steering system is installed, consisting of a power steering pump driven by a belt from the crankshaft, a fluid reservoir, hoses and tubes, and a steering gear.

The steering is trauma-safe, with a height-adjustable (tilt angle) steering column, with a rack and pinion steering mechanism. The steering mechanism assembled with the steering rods is attached in the engine compartment to the front shield of the body on brackets using clamps. Fastening is carried out through rubber cushions with nuts on welded bolts.
