Checking the steering wheel free play (Hyundai Getz 1)

1. Start the engine with the steering wheel in the straight-ahead position.

2. Measure the free play around the steering wheel circumference.

Steering wheel free play: 0–30 mm

3. If the free play exceeds the permissible value, then the universal joints of the steering shaft or the steering gear are worn out.
