Checking the steering wheel turning force (Hyundai Getz 1)

1. With the vehicle on a firm, level surface, set the front wheels to straight ahead.

2. Increase the engine crankshaft speed to 1000±100 min⁻¹.



4. Check that there is no sudden change in steering effort when turning the steering wheel.

5. If the measured force exceeds the required value, perform the following checks:

• check the protective boots of the lower arm ball joints and the tie rod end for damage;
• torque required to rotate the ball joint pin of the tie rod end;.
• the torque that must be applied to turn the lower arm ball joint pin.
