Withdrawal
Remove the battery.

Disconnect the air filter duct (pic. 2.32).
Disconnect the reversing light switch and engine wiring harness connectors.
On models with a 5-speed manual transmission, disconnect the reversing light sensor-switch connector.
Disconnect the generator harness connectors.
Drain the coolant.

Note. When disconnecting hoses, always mark them first so that the hoses are in their original position when connected.
Attention! Be careful when disconnecting hoses, do not spill oil or other liquid. Plug the disconnected pipes or hoses to prevent foreign particles from getting inside.

Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses from the engine side, then remove the radiator assembly (pic. 2.34).
Disconnect the wire «masses» engine.
Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose.
Disconnect the main fuel line, fuel return hose and evaporative emission hose from the engine side.
Disconnect both hoses (inlet and outlet) heater on the engine side.
Disconnect the accelerator pedal cable from the engine side.
On manual transmission models, remove the shift cable from the transmission.
On models with automatic transmission, remove the automatic transmission control cable from the transmission.
Disconnect the speedometer cable from the transmission.

Disconnect the A/C compressor from its mounting bracket (pic. 2.35).
Jack up the car.

Drain oil or automatic transmission oil (ATF) from the gearbox (pic. 2.36).
Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold.
Note. Using a wire, tie the exhaust pipe to the car body.

On manual transmission models, remove the gear selector cable and shift cable (pic. 2.37).
Remove the bolts securing the ball joint of the lower arm and stabilizer to the lower suspension arm.
Disconnect the wheel drive shafts from the gearbox.
Attention! Cover the holes for the drive shafts in the gearbox to prevent dirt and foreign particles from getting inside.
Attention! Before installing the wheel drive shafts, replace the shaft circlips.
Using wire, hang the lower control arm and wheel drive shaft from the vehicle body.
Using chains or cables, secure the engine to the crosshead by the mounting brackets and hang it on a hoist. Raise the engine assembly slightly to relieve the engine mounts from the weight of the power package before performing the following steps.

Remove the front engine mount (pic. 2.38).

Disconnect the rear engine mount (pic. 2.39).
Turn away bolts of fastening of a lateral support of the engine.

Remove the side support bracket from the engine (pic. 2.40).
Slowly raise the engine to relieve the weight of the engine and transmission assembly and temporarily leave it in the suspended position.
Attention! Check that all cables, wires are disconnected from the engine (electrical connectors), hoses, etc.
Remove the plugs from inside the left fender splash guard and unscrew the bolts securing the gearbox support bracket.
With the power package pointing down with the transmission down, lift the engine and transmission assembly from the engine compartment and remove them from the vehicle.
