Note: The use of an incorrect or dirty air filter can lead to premature engine wear due to air entering the cylinders with abrasive particles.
1. Open the latches on the air filter cover and remove the filter element.
2. Visually inspect the filter element for contamination, oiling, obstruction or damage. If necessary, replace the filter element.
3. If the filter element is slightly dirty or clogged, remove dust and other contaminants by blowing it with compressed air.
4. Check the rest of the air filter for clogging, contamination or damage.
5. Replace the filter element and close the filter cover latches.
