Note: Using an incorrect or dirty air filter can cause premature engine wear due to air containing abrasive particles entering the cylinders.
1. Open the air filter cover latches and remove the filter element.

2. Visually inspect the filter element for contamination, oiling, clogging or damage. Replace the filter element if necessary.
3. If the filter element is slightly dirty or clogged, remove dust and other contaminants by blowing it out with compressed air.
4. Check the remaining air filter parts for clogging, dirt or damage.
5. Replace the filter element and close the filter cover latches.
