Checking for increased idle speed when the air conditioner is turned on (Hyundai Sonata EF)

0
1. Before starting the inspection procedure, prepare the vehicle (see section "Checking the idle speed").

2. Check that the idle speed is within the specified value (see the section "Checking the idle speed").

3. Set the air conditioner switch to the "ON" position (A/C ON), the heater electric fan switch to the "MH" or "HI" position. Make sure that the idle speed corresponds to the nominal value with the air conditioner running.

Nominal value:
  • 2.4L Engine:
    • "A/C OFF" — 700±100 rpm
    • "A/C ON" — 850±100 rpm
  • 2.7L Engine:
    • "A/C OFF" — 700±100 rpm
    • "A/C ON" — 870±100 rpm

Note: The value of the increased idle speed is set by the engine management system depending on the signal from the air conditioning electronic control unit.

4. If the increased idle speed value does not correspond to the nominal value, check the components of the fuel injection system (see the relevant section of the chapter "Fuel injection system (MFI)").
