Note:
- After any work related to the ingress of air into the brake system, bleed it.
- Bleed to properly bleed the brake fluid, fill the ABS hydraulic unit, brake lines, and brake master cylinder with brake fluid.
- Do not press the brake pedal when bleeding the brake system.
- The bleeding procedure is the same for each wheel brake. Perform pumping in the sequence shown in the figure.
Caution: Do not allow brake fluid to come into contact with painted surfaces. If brake fluid comes into contact with a painted surface, wash it off immediately.
1. Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap and fill the reservoir with brake fluid.
- Brake fluid type: SAE J 1703 or FMVSS 116 DOT3 or DOT4
2. Connect the hose to the bleeder port on the disc brake caliper or drum brake slave cylinder. Dip the free end of the hose into a container half-filled with clean brake fluid.
3. Connect the tester to the diagnostic connector located under the instrument panel.
4. Turn on the ignition, select the appropriate tester menu item and follow the instructions on the tester display.
Attention: it is necessary to strictly follow the instructions of the tester regarding the maximum allowable period of operation of the ABS pump motor (60 seconds) to prevent burnout of the motor winding.
- A) Select an item "HYUNDAI VEHICLE DIAGNOSIS" (Car diagnostics).
- b) Select car model name - "SONATA".
- V) Select an item "ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM" (anti-lock braking system).
- G) Select an item "AIR BLEEDING MODE" (brake bleeding mode).
- d) Click the button "YES" (Yes) tester to turn on the pump motor and solenoid valves.
- e) Wait 60 seconds before starting the pumping operation (otherwise the pump motor may be damaged).
5. Press the brake pedal several times and then loosen the bleeder plug until the brake fluid starts to flow out. Tighten the bleeder screw when air bubbles stop appearing with the brake fluid.
7. Tighten the bleed screw.
- Tightening torque: 7-13 Nm
