Starting a gasoline engine

Warning: Never run the engine in a closed or poorly ventilated area longer than necessary to enter or exit. Carbon monoxide in exhaust gases is odorless and can be fatal!
Starting a diesel engine
Cold Engine Day
After turning the ignition key to the "ON" position, wait until the preheating indicator goes out.
Turn on the starter until the engine starts.
For a warm engine
Turn on the starter. If the engine does not start on the first attempt, wait a few seconds and try again using the pre-heater.
For normal conditions
Engine starting operations:
- 1. Insert the key into the ignition and fasten the seat belt.
- 2. Fully depress the clutch pedal and move the gearshift lever (manual transmission) to neutral or the selector (automatic transmission) to position "P" ("Park"),
- 3. After turning the ignition key to the "ON" position, make sure that all indicator lights and gauges are working properly before starting the engine.
- 4. If the vehicle is equipped with a preheating system, the yellow preheating indicator on the instrument panel will light up after turning the ignition key. After a while, it will go out, indicating that preheating is complete.

Note: If the engine does not start within 10 seconds after preheating is completed, turn the ignition key to the "LOCK" position again for 10 seconds and then to the "ON" position to preheat again.
Warning: When starting the engine of a vehicle with a manual transmission, be sure to fully depress the clutch pedal. If it is not fully depressed, the vehicle may jerk forward or backward when starting the engine and be damaged.
- 5. Turn the ignition key to the "START" position and release it after the engine starts.
Starting and stopping a diesel engine with a turbocharger
1. Do not start the engine at full power immediately. If the engine is cold, warm it up for a few seconds at idle before starting to drive. This will ensure proper lubrication of the turbocharger system.
2. After driving at high speed or strenuously (requiring high engine loads), do not turn off the engine immediately. Let it idle for 1 minute. This will allow the turbocharger to cool before stopping the engine.
Warning: Do not turn off the engine immediately after heavy loads, as this may cause serious damage to the engine or turbocharger system.
