1. Turn off the road and stop the car in a safe place.
2. Move the selector to position "R" ("Parking") (Automatic transmission) or move the shift lever to neutral and apply the parking brake. If the air conditioner is running, turn it off.
3. If coolant is leaking from under the vehicle or steam is coming from under the hood, turn off the engine. Do not open the hood until coolant stops flowing from under the vehicle or steam stops coming out from under the hood. If there are no visible signs of coolant or steam leaks, keep the engine running and check that the cooling system radiator fan is running. If it doesn't work, turn off the engine.
4. Check up presence of a belt of a drive of the pump of a cooling liquid. If it is in place, check its tension. If it seems to you that the belt is in order, check for coolant leakage from the radiator, cooling system hoses. or from under the car. (If the air conditioner was turned on, cold water drains out of the car after the car stops, this is normal).
Warning: While the engine is running, keep hands, long hair, and clothing away from moving parts such as the radiator fan and drive belts to prevent injury.
Warning: (only for diesel engines) Do not interfere with the injection system when the engine is running or for 30 seconds after the engine has stopped. The high pressure fuel pump, manifold, injectors and high pressure fuel lines are pressurized with fuel even after the engine has stopped. Escaping fuel from a leak can cause serious injury if it comes into contact with the skin. People using a pacemaker should not come closer than 30 cm to the electronic control unit or wiring in the engine compartment when the engine is running because there is high voltage in the system "Common Rail" generates a strong electromagnetic field.
5. If the drive belt or coolant pump is faulty, or there is a coolant leak, turn off the engine immediately and contact your nearest authorized Hyundai dealer for help.
Warning: Do not open the radiator cap while the engine is hot. Boiling coolant may be released and you may be burned.
6. If you cannot find the cause of overheating, wait until the engine coolant temperature returns to normal. If there is a coolant leak, carefully remove the radiator cap and add coolant to half the coolant level in the expansion tank.
7. Watch closely for further signs of overheating. If the engine overheats again, contact an authorized Hyundai dealer for help.
Attention: A strong drop in the coolant level indicates a leak in the cooling system. In this case, contact an authorized Hyundai dealer as soon as possible for verification.
