Attention: In case of improper towing, your vehicle may be damaged!
If your vehicle needs to be towed, it should be done by your authorized HYUNDAI dealer or a professional towing service. This will help you avoid damage to the vehicle during towing. In addition, towing professionals are generally familiar with the rules and laws pertaining to vehicle towing. In any case, we recommend that you show this information to the tow truck operator. Be sure to use safety chains and comply with local regulations.
If the vehicle is being towed with its rear wheels on the road, make sure the parking brake is off.
Make sure the ignition key is in the "ACC" ("Optional equipment"). This is to prevent damage to the steering lock mechanism, which is not designed to hold the front wheels in a straight line while the vehicle is being towed.
If any part of the loaded wheels or suspension is damaged, a towing dolly must be used.
Attention: When towing a vehicle with the front wheels raised above the ground, it is necessary to use a tractor with a wheel lifting mechanism. Otherwise, such towing may cause serious damage to the front suspension parts.
Towing a car with an automatic transmission
Attention: It is forbidden to tow cars with automatic transmission backwards with the rear wheels off the ground and with the front wheels on the ground. This can seriously damage the gearbox. If it is necessary to tow the vehicle with the rear raised, the front wheels must be on the tow truck.
If the vehicle is being towed with its rear wheels on the road, make sure the parking brake is off.
Note: Before towing, check the fluid level in the automatic transmission. If it is below the mark "NOT" ("Hot") on the dipstick, add fluid. If you cannot add fluid, you must use a towing cart.
