If necessary, towing of the car should be performed by a professional towing service. This will help to avoid damage to the car during its towing. In addition, towing service professionals are familiar with the rules and laws related to towing of vehicles. The best way to tow a car is to transport it on the platform of a special tow truck.

Warning! If towed incorrectly, the vehicle may be damaged.

Important! Make sure that the gearshift lever is in neutral position (for automatic transmission – selector in position "N").

Caution! To avoid locking the steering gear, make sure the ignition key is in the "ACC" position.

The vehicle can be towed by lifting the front/rear wheels 1, 2 or on the platform of a tow truck 3 (Fig. 1.206).

Warning! Make sure that the bumper, engine parts, suspension and body parts at the bottom of the car will not be damaged during towing. Do not tow the car using the lifting hook of a tow truck.

If you are towing your vehicle with the front wheels raised, make sure the parking brake is released.

Note: Before towing, check the automatic transmission fluid level. If it is below the HOT mark on the dipstick, add fluid. If it is not possible to add fluid, a towing dolly must be used.

If the drive axle or suspension components are damaged or the vehicle is towed with the rear wheels raised, use a towing dolly under the front wheels.

On vehicles with a manual transmission, when towing without using a towing dolly, set the ignition key to the "ACC" position and the gearshift lever to the neutral position.

Caution: When towing a vehicle without using a towing dolly, do not remove the key from the ignition switch or leave it in the "LOCK" position.

On vehicles with automatic transmission, when towing, it is necessary to use a towing dolly under the front wheels.

It is prohibited to tow a vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission with the rear part of the vehicle forward with the rear wheels raised. This can seriously damage the transmission. It is recommended to tow the vehicle with its full load on the platform of a tow truck.

Towing a 4WD vehicle

A four-wheel drive vehicle must be towed by loading it onto a tow truck platform or using a towing dolly.

Caution! To avoid damaging the all-wheel drive system, when towing an all-wheel drive vehicle with the front or rear wheels raised, it is essential to use a towing dolly.

Caution: Make sure that the bumper, engine parts, suspension and body parts at the bottom of the car will not be damaged during towing.

Do not tow your vehicle using the lifting hook of a recovery vehicle.
