Exhaust pipes and muffler.
1 - main muffler, 2 - rubber-metal bracket, 3 - gasket, 4 - central pipe of the exhaust system, 5 - gasket, 6 - heat-protective casing of the central pipe of the exhaust system, 7 - inlet pipe of the exhaust system, 8 - gasket, 9 - heat-protective casing of the inlet pipe of the exhaust system.
Removal
Caution: Before starting operations to remove or inspect exhaust system components, make sure they have cooled sufficiently.
Main muffler
1. Disconnect the main muffler from the central pipe of the exhaust system.
2. Remove the rubber-metal brackets and remove the main muffler.

Central pipe of the exhaust system
1. Loosen the bolts and nuts securing the central pipe of the exhaust system to the inlet pipe.
2. Remove the rubber-metal brackets and remove the central pipe of the exhaust system.

Exhaust system downpipe (with catalytic converter)
1. Loosen the bolts and nuts securing the exhaust system's inlet pipe to the central pipe.

2. Unscrew the bolts and nuts securing the exhaust system inlet pipe to the exhaust manifold.
Engines 2.0 l / 2.4 l. |
Engine 2.7 l. |
3. Remove the exhaust pipe from the rubber-metal brackets.

Installation
1. Install the exhaust components in the following order: first the exhaust downpipe (with catalytic converter), then the exhaust center pipe and the main muffler. Temporarily tighten the exhaust components.
2. Install the rubber-metal brackets so that the gaps with the body on both sides of the component are equal.
3. Tighten the exhaust system components securely. Make sure that there is no contact between the exhaust system components and any parts of the vehicle body.
Examination
1. Check the mufflers and exhaust pipes for exhaust leaks, corrosion and damage.
2. Check the rubber-metal brackets for cracks and deterioration (wear, aging, etc.).
