Connect the HI-SCAN (Pro) tester to the standard diagnostic connector (DLC).
Read the fault codes issued by the automatic transmission self-diagnosis system. Then eliminate the faults in accordance with table 3.13.
Note: A maximum of 8 diagnostic trouble codes (in the order they appear) can be stored in the electronic control unit's random access memory (RAM).
Note: If a fault code occurs multiple times, it will only be stored in memory once.
Note: If the number of diagnostic trouble codes or malfunction conditions recorded (diagnostic trouble patterns) exceeds 8, then previously recorded fault codes will be deleted from the memory in sequence, starting from the earliest.
Note: Do not disconnect the battery until diagnostic trouble codes or fault conditions are read (diagnostic trouble patterns), since if the battery is disconnected they will be deleted from the memory of the electronic control unit.
If the system has switched to emergency control mode and the gearbox is fixed in 3rd gear (gear shifting is blocked), then a diagnostic trouble code is written to the random access memory (RAM) of the electronic control unit in the form of an emergency operation code. A total of three such trouble codes can be written to the memory.
If the transmission is in third gear only (gear shifting is blocked) and the ignition key is turned to the "OFF" position, the emergency mode will be cancelled (cancellation), but the diagnostic trouble codes will be stored in the random access memory (RAM) of the electronic control unit.
Memorizing information in memory (memorization)
A maximum of 8 diagnostic trouble codes and 3 emergency operating mode parameters can be stored in memory.
If the memory capacity does not allow recording new information, then the diagnostic trouble codes and emergency operating mode parameters stored in the memory will be overwritten with new ones in sequence, starting from the earliest.
The same fault code cannot be stored in the memory more than once.
Automatically clear fault codes from memory (Automatic deletion)
All diagnostic trouble codes are automatically cleared from the memory after the automatic transmission fluid (ATF) temperature reaches 50°C for 200 times after the last trouble code was written to the memory.
Forced deletion of fault codes from memory (Forced deletion)
Stored diagnostic trouble codes can be cleared using the tester if the following conditions are met:
- ignition key in the "ON" position;
- no signals (pulses) from the crankshaft position sensor detected;
- no signals (pulses) from the gearbox output shaft speed sensor detected;
- no signals (pulses) from vehicle speed sensor detected;
- emergency operation mode is not enabled.
