Drive shaft disassembly (models with manual transmission).
1 - outer race of the inner hinge, 2, 3 - retaining ring, 4 - inner race of the inner hinge, 5 - separator, 6 - ball, 7 - cover of the inner hinge, 8 - boot, 9 - outer hinge assembly, 10 - cover of the outer hinge, 11 - outer clamp of the outer hinge cover, 12 - inner clamp of the outer hinge cover, 13 - outer clamp of the inner hinge cover, 14 - inner clamp of the inner hinge cover.
Note: * - models with 2.7L engine.
1. Remove the boot straps and slide the inner hinge boot.
Attention: be careful not to damage the cover when removing.
2. Using a slotted screwdriver, remove the circlip from the outer race of the hinge.
3. Remove the outer race of the inner joint.
4. Remove the circlip and remove the inner race of the inner joint assembly with cage and balls.
5. Clean the inner race of the pivot assembly with cage and balls without disassembling the assembly.
Note: be careful, try not to let the balls fall out. If the balls fall out, put them back in the cage.
6. Remove boot straps and slide outer hinge boot. Remove the protective covers of the outer and inner hinges from the shaft.
Attention: if the hinge boot is to be reinstalled, then wrap the splined part of the shaft with insulating tape to prevent damage to the boot.
