Dismantling the intermediate drive shaft
1. Fix the intermediate shaft in a vise and, using the special tool, remove the bracket with the bearing from the shaft.
2. Using special tools, press the bearing out of the bracket and remove the anthers.
Checking the intermediate drive shaft
1. Check the intermediate shaft for damage, deflection and corrosion.
2. Check that the shaft splines are not damaged.
3. Check the bearing for scoring, displacement of elements and significant surface roughness.
4. Make sure that the bearing tracks rotate evenly.
5. Check the length of the intermediate drive shaft.

Intermediate Drive Shaft Assembly
1. Apply grease to mating surfaces of bearing and bracket.
2. Using the special tool, press the bearing into the bracket.
3. Apply grease to the dust boots.
- Type of lubricant: LIG-2 or Sunlight No. 2
- Amount of lubricant:
- inner boot: 7-10 g
- outer boot: 4-6g
4. Using the special tools, install the dust boots into the bearing bracket.
5. Using the special tool, install the bearing bracket onto the shaft.
