Checking the drive shaft (models with manual transmission)
1. Check the outer and inner races, separator and balls for damage or rust.
2. Check the splined portion of the drive shaft for excessive wear.
3. Make sure there is no water, foreign particles, dirt or rust in the outer joint protective boot.
Caution: If the outer joint assembly is to be reinstalled, do not remove the grease from it. Check the joint grease for foreign particles. If necessary, completely clean the outer joint from dirt and grease, then apply new grease to the inner surface of the joint.

Checking the drive shaft (models with automatic transmission)
1. Check the splined portion of the drive shaft for excessive wear.
2. Make sure there is no water, foreign particles, dirt or rust in the outer joint protective boot.
Caution: If the outer joint assembly is to be reinstalled, do not remove the grease from it. Check the joint grease for foreign particles. If necessary, completely clean the outer joint from dirt and grease, then apply new grease to the inner surface of the joint.
3. Check the uniformity of rotation of the rollers on the triple hinge axes, make sure there is no increased wear or corrosion.
4. Check the groove on the inner surface of the inner joint race for wear and corrosion.
5. Check the damper for damage and cracks.
