Fig. 2.260. Wiring diagram of the engine crankshaft position sensor with the ECU
Conditions for storing fault codes
Code P0335
The ECU stores the P0335 code and turns on the engine management system malfunction indicator lamp if, with the starter on, the signal voltage remains equal to 0 V for 4 seconds or 8 crankshaft revolutions, while the camshaft position sensor signal indicates engine crankshaft rotation. This check is performed each time the engine is started. Storing this code indicates the absence of a signal from the crankshaft position sensor, although a signal from the camshaft position sensor is present.
Code P0335
The ECU stores the P0336 code and immediately turns on the engine management system malfunction indicator lamp if the crankshaft position sensor does not indicate the omission of two teeth of the ring gear in exactly the same position for two crankshaft revolutions. This check is performed for 5 seconds at a crankshaft speed above 2000 min⁻¹. Storing this code indicates a malfunction in the ECU's determination of the crankshaft position based on the sensor signals.
Examination
Disconnect the engine crankshaft position sensor electrical connector.
Check the resistance between terminals 1 and 2.
Nominal value: 0.486–0.594 kOhm at 20°C.
If the resistance value does not match the specified limits, replace the sensor.
Nominal value of the installation gap of the engine crankshaft position sensor, mm: 0.5–1.5.
Tightening torque of the engine crankshaft position sensor: 9–11 N·m.
