Checking the axial clearance in the wheel bearing

1. Check the axial clearances in the bearings when the vehicle is raised on a jack.

2. If any amount of axial clearance is detected, remove the cap and release the parking brake.

3. Remove the bracket assembly and brake disc.

4. Check the axial play of the bearing. Place a dial gauge on the surface of the wheel hub, and then move the hub axially and check for axial play.

4. Check the axial play of the bearing.…

  • The maximum axial clearance is 0.01 mm or less

5. If the result exceeds the limit value, the rear wheel bearing nut should be tightened to the specified torque value, after which the axial play is checked again.

6. If the adjustment fails to select this gap, the entire rear wheel hub bearing should be replaced.
