Note: The procedure for checking the alternator drive belt tension is given in Chapter "Maintenance and general check and adjustment procedures".
The charging system consists of a battery, a generator with a built-in voltage regulator, a battery charge indicator and electrical wiring.
The generator has a rectifier unit consisting of six diodes (three positive and three negative), through which the alternating voltage is converted into direct voltage. The direct voltage is fed to the "B" terminal of the generator.

The charging voltage produced by the generator is regulated by the system maintaining a constant level of charge of the battery. The generator is driven by a belt from the engine crankshaft.
The main components of the generator are the rotor, stator, rectifier unit, brushes, bearings and pulley for the belt drive from the crankshaft. The built-in electronic voltage regulator is fixed on the brush holder.
- Generator Rated Output: 13.5V/95A
- Voltage maintenance range: 14.4±0.3V
- Temperature compensation of regulated voltage: -10±3 mV/°C
