Coolant temperature sensor (Hyundai Sonata EF)

Removal and installation

1. Drain the coolant.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable, then remove the engine wire harness.

3. Remove the coolant temperature sensor.

Coolant temperature sensor (models with 2.0L / 2.4L engines).

Coolant temperature sensor (models with 2.7L engine).

4. Apply the recommended sealant to the sensor threads.

• Sealant: LOCTITE 262, LOCTITE 962T, Three Bond No.1324 or equivalent

5. Install the coolant temperature sensor in place and tighten it to the specified torque.

• Tightening torque: 20-40 Nm

6. Connect the coolant temperature sensor connector to the engine wire harness.

7. Connect the cable to the negative terminal of the battery.

8. Fill the cooling system with coolant.

Examination

1. Place the measuring part of the sensor in hot coolant with a known temperature.



2. Check that the sensor resistance matches the nominal value.

• Nominal value (at 20°C): 2.31-2.59 kOhm
