Instrument cluster indicators
1. Parking brake status indicator and low brake fluid level indicator.
- A) The indicator lights up when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" or "START" and goes off after a few seconds.
- b) The indicator lights up or stays on when:
- the parking brake is on;
- low level of brake fluid or the tightness of the vacuum brake booster is broken;
- the electrical circuit of the indicator is faulty;
- faulty EBD system (rear brake force adjustment not possible).
Note: If the EBD system is malfunctioning, then the anti-lock brake system indicators (ABS) and the state of the parking brake system and the brake fluid level will be lit at the same time.
- V) If the indicator lights up while driving, slow down, pull off the road and carefully stop the car. You can slow down by applying the engine brake and applying the parking brake, but be sure to depress the brake pedal to turn on the brake lights to alert drivers behind you to slow down.
Attention: due to a malfunction, the braking distance will be increased.
- G) Check the parking brake, it may be on. If the parking brake is released and the indicator is on after the parking brake is released, there is a problem with the brake system.
- d) Check the brake fluid level in the reservoir.
- If the brake fluid level is low, have the vehicle's braking performance checked in a safe place. If you think the brakes are still working well enough, carefully drive the car to the nearest repair shop. If the brakes do not work, the vehicle must be towed or towed for repair.
- If the brake fluid level is normal, then the brake booster may not be working effectively or the indicator circuit may be faulty.
Attention: driving a car with a low level of brake fluid is dangerous.
2. Anti-lock brake indicator (ABS).
- A) After turning the key in the ignition switch to position "ON" The indicator lights up and goes out after a few seconds.
- b) If the indicator lights up while the engine is running, lights up while driving, or does not light up for a few seconds after turning the ignition key to the "ON", then this means that there may be a malfunction in the ABS system (the ABS system is not active and only the normal brake system works).
Caution: Pressing the brake pedal repeatedly may turn on the indicator for a few seconds.
3. Battery charging indicator.
- A) The indicator lights up when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" and should go out after the engine is started.
- b) If the indicator lights up while driving, pull off the road and stop the vehicle immediately. Open the hood and check the condition of the alternator drive belt. If the belt is broken or loose, the vehicle must be towed or towed for repair.
Caution: Running the engine while the alternator drive belt is broken or loose will cause overheating and damage to the engine due to the nature of the design (This belt drives the coolant pump).
- V) If the belt is intact and its tension is normal, then the charging system is faulty. In this case, the engine will continue to run until the battery is completely discharged. Turn off additional electrical equipment (air conditioning, heater fan, radio, etc.) and move to the place of repair.
4. Low engine oil pressure indicator.
- A) The indicator lights up when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" and should go out after the engine is started.
- b) The indicator lights up if the engine oil pressure is too low.
- V) If the indicator flashes or lights up while driving, pull over to the side of the road and turn off the ignition.
- The indicator may flash after hard braking or when the engine is idling. There is no malfunction if the indicator goes out with a slight increase in engine speed.
- The indicator may come on when the engine oil level is too low. But this indicator is not designed to inform you about a low oil level, so periodically check the level with a dipstick.
5. Indicator "check the engine" (CHECK ENGINE).
- A) The indicator lights up when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" for a few seconds and then goes out, informing the driver that the engine management system is being checked.
- b) If the indicator stays on or lights up while driving, this indicates a malfunction in the electronic engine control system. In this case, it is necessary to move to the place of repair and diagnose the engine control system.
6. Driver's seat belt indicator.
The indicator lights up when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" or "START" for about 6 seconds and then turns off. If the driver is not wearing a seat belt, the indicator on the instrument cluster will flash continuously.
7. Indicator of an open or loosely closed door.
The indicator stays on until all doors are tightly closed.
8. Indicator of an open or loosely closed trunk lid.
The indicator stays on until the rear door is firmly closed.
9. The high beam indicator lights up when the high beam headlights are on.
10. Turn signal indicators. The indicators flash when the direction indicators or alarms are turned on. Too fast flashing of the indicators indicates a bad connection in the direction indicator circuit or a failure of the direction indicator lamp.
11. Airbag indicator (SRS).
- A) The indicator lights up when the ignition key is turned to the "ON", for about 6 seconds, and then turns off.
- b) If the indicator does not light up or lights up while driving, there is a malfunction in the SRS system components.
12. Automatic transmission selector lever position indicators.
When the automatic transmission selector is moved to any position, the corresponding indicator lights up on the instrument cluster. For a more detailed description, see the section "Driving a car with automatic transmission".
13. Low fuel level indicator. The indicator comes on when the ignition key is in the "ON", and the amount of fuel in the tank is less than 8 liters. Depending on the configuration of the car, fuel can last for 40-60 km on a good road. On slopes or when cornering, the indicator may come on due to fluctuations in the fuel in the tank.
Attention: do not drive with too low fuel level in the tank. Running out of fuel can lead to failure of the catalytic converter.
14. Indicator of operation of the cruise control system.
The indicator lights up when the cruise control system is activated. For a more detailed description, see the section "Speed control system".
15. The front fog lamp indicator lights up when the front fog lamps are turned on.
16. Traction control indicator (TCS).
- A) The indicator lights up when the ignition key is turned to the "ON" and goes out after starting the engine.
- b) The traction control indicator flashes when the TCS system is activated while the vehicle is in motion. The traction control indicator will illuminate when the TCS is turned off with the switch.
- V) If the indicator flashes continuously or comes on while driving without the TCS being turned off by the switch, this indicates a problem with the traction control system. Contact your dealer.
