Removal
Disconnect the battery.
Disconnect the fan motor connectors and release the wires from the deflector clips.
Models with automatic transmission: disconnect the automatic transmission fluid cooling hoses from the deflector.
Unscrew the four deflector mounting bolts.
Remove the deflector together with the electric motor.
Remove the retaining ring and remove the fan.

Unscrew the three screws securing the electric motor and remove the electric motor (Fig. 2.302).

Check that the radiator electric fan rotates when battery voltage is applied to the electric motor terminals (Fig. 2.303).
Check for extraneous noise in the operation of the electric motor

Remove the fan speed control relay from the relay box in the engine compartment (Fig. 2.304).

Check for a closed circuit between terminals 2 and 4 of the relay. Check the relay circuits according to table 2.16.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.

Note: When installing, do not allow the fan to come into contact with the deflector. After installation, check the operation of the assembled unit (Fig. 2.306).
