Removal
Drain the coolant and disconnect the connecting hose of the cooling system supply pipe from the coolant pump.
Remove the alternator drive belt and coolant pump pulley.
Remove the timing belt covers and timing belt tensioner.
Loosen the coolant pump mounting bolts and remove the generator adjusting bar.
Remove the coolant pump assembly from the cylinder block.
Examination
Inspect each part for cracks, damage or wear, and replace the coolant pump assembly if necessary.
Check the bearing for damage, excessive noise during operation, and slow rotation, and replace the coolant pump assembly if necessary.
Check the pump for coolant leaks. If there are coolant leaks, the seal assembly is faulty. Replace the coolant pump assembly.
Installation
Remove any remaining old gasket from the mating surfaces of the coolant pump and cylinder block
Install the O-ring into the groove of the coolant inlet pipe. Lubricate the gasket with water (do not apply grease or oil).
Fig. 2.297. Pump mounting
Install the coolant pump together with a new gasket and tighten the pump mounting bolts to the specified torque (Fig. 2.297).

Tightening torque of the coolant pump mounting bolts to the cylinder block: 15–22 N·m.
Install the timing belt tensioner and the timing belt. Adjust the timing belt tension. Install the belt covers.
Install the coolant pump pulley and alternator drive belt, and then adjust the belt tension.
Fill the cooling system with clean coolant.
Start the engine and check for coolant leaks.
