Front Occupant Detection (PPD) System (Mitsubishi Matrix)

This system is designed to detect the presence of a passenger in the front seat. In the absence of a passenger, the system prevents the airbag from being used up in an accident. The main element of the system is the load sensor.

Sensor sensitivity threshold: loaded – more than 15 kg, no load – 0.6 kg. Sensor characteristics:

• under load > 15 kg resistance < 50 kOhm;
• under load < 0.6 kg resistance > 50 kOhm.
