Side impact sensor (Mitsubishi Matrix)

The side impact sensor (left and right) is installed in the middle of the passenger compartment in the side airbag system. The SRS electronic control unit detonates the required airbag or seat belt pretensioner. The decision to deploy one or another side airbag is made based on signals from the side impact sensors.

The SRS electronic control unit maintains the operation of the side airbags by comparing the accelerations registered by the auxiliary sensors.

The processing of signals from auxiliary sensors is continuous.

Note: When the ignition is on, avoid making sharp impacts to the body in the sensor installation area. The SRS electronic control unit may interpret this as a collision and detonate the airbag.
