Clock spring (Mitsubishi Matrix)

The clock spring (current collector) consists of two conductive windings. The spring is installed on the steering column and steering wheel. Thus, when the steering wheel is rotated, a constant electrical contact is established between the airbag modules and the passive safety system.

For the clock spring to function properly, the steering wheel must be correctly installed on the steering column (alignment of the center position of the steering wheels and the clock spring). Otherwise, the clock spring may be damaged.
