Removal



1. Remove the main shield.

2. Remove the cable adjuster, pin, equalizer and nut holder.

3. Disconnect the parking brake warning switch.

4. Remove the parking brake lever.

5. Remove the rear seat cushion and lift the mat.

6. Remove the parking brake cable clamp and sealing ring.

7. Remove the tire assembly and brake drum.

8. Remove the rear hub assembly.

8. Remove the rear hub assembly.


9. Remove the springs and spring pins from the brake shoes.

10. Remove the cable clamp.

11. Disconnect the end of the cable from the driven shoe.

12. Route the cable under the bottom of the car body.

Examination



1. Check the operation of the parking brake warning switch.



2. Check the parking brake lever ratchet for wear.

3. Check the operation and serviceability of the parking brake cable.

Installation



1. Check the presence of identification marks on the parking brake cables and install these cables in accordance with these marks on the left and right.

2. Move the adjusting lever back when installing the brake shoe tension spring.

3. Install the spacer ring in the direction shown in Fig.

4. Apply lubricant to each of the moving parts of the chronograph and the pawl.
  • Recommended Lubricant - General Purpose Lubricant SAE J310, NLGI No.2

5. After installing the cable adjuster, adjust the stroke of the parking brake lever.
