Removal
1. Remove the ring.
2. Remove the screw that holds the driven brake shoe key to the mounting plate.
3. Loosen the adjusting nut of the parking brake cable.
4. Remove the parking brake cable.
5. Remove the brake hose.
6. Remove the disc brake caliper assembly.
Note: Hang the bracket on a wire or support it on something to prevent damage to the brake hose.
7. Remove the wheel speed sensor (anti-lock brake system).
8. Unscrew the wheel bearing nut.
9. Remove the wheel hub and boot.
Examination
1. Check the brake linings for wear or oil contamination and replace them if necessary.
Note: The left and right brake linings must be replaced at the same time.
- The maximum minimum thickness of the overlay is 0.8 mm
2. Check the keys of the leading and driven shoes and the locking screw for damage and wear. Replace the keys and the locking screw at the same time as replacing the brake linings.
3. Check the dust cover for wear and defects; if dust or dirt penetrates the disc brake caliper through the seal, the caliper must be replaced.
Installation
1. Before replacing the brake linings, remove the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir, leaving half of the fluid volume in it.
