Checking the gearbox oil level
Check the gearbox for oil leaks. Check the gearbox oil level by removing the speedometer driven gear. If the oil is contaminated, drain the oil and add new oil.
Remove the speedometer driven gear and check the oil level with your finger.
Make sure the oil level is between the "F" and "L" marks on the speedometer driven gear.
If the oil level is at "L" or below, add the recommended transmission fluid to the gearbox up to the "F" mark.
Gearbox oil change
With the vehicle parked on a level, horizontal surface, remove the drain plug and drain the oil from the gearbox.
Note: Recommended transmission oil: Hypoid gear oil (HP Gear Oil), GL-4 according to API classification, viscosity SAE75W-90.
Replace the gasket with a new one and reinstall the drain plug.
Remove the speedometer drive gear.
Fill with new oil up to the "F" mark of the speedometer drive gear.
Gearbox filling capacity: 2.43 l
Make sure the transmission fluid level is between the "F" and "L" marks on the speedometer driven gear.
Install the speedometer drive driven gear onto the gearbox clutch housing.
It is necessary to drive the car until the temperature of the oil in the gearbox reaches operating temperature, then check for oil leaks from the gearbox.
Replacing the wheel drive shaft seal
Disconnect the wheel drive shaft from the gearbox.
Use a flat-head screwdriver to remove the seal.
Fig. 3.4. Installing the wheel drive shaft seal
Using a special tool (mandrel 09431-21200), install the new wheel drive shaft seal into the gearbox using light blows (Fig. 3.4).
Lubricate the working lip of the oil seal with transmission oil.
