Removal



Remove the floor console assembly.

Remove the cotter pins and the transmission control cable clamps from the gear shift lever side.

Remove the gear shift lever assembly.

Loosen the bolts and remove the intermediate bracket for the gearbox control cables on the engine compartment bulkhead.

Remove the cotter pins and the transmission control cable clamps (from the gearbox side).

Remove the gear selection and shift cables (Fig. 3.44).

Examination



Check the functionality of the gear selection cable and its absence of damage.

Check the gear shift cable for functionality and damage.



Check the gearbox control cable boots for damage.

Inspect each bushing for wear, abrasion, binding, restriction or damage.

Check the spring for wear or damage.

Assembly



Install the gear shift lever assembly.

Install the gear selector cable and shift cable.
