Driving on snow or ice
You may need to fit winter tires or snow chains to drive in deep snow, If winter tires are required, choose standard type and size tires, Failure to do so may adversely affect vehicle safety and handling, Driving fast, hard acceleration, harsh braking or sharp turns are very dangerous. When braking, use engine braking as much as possible. Sudden braking on snowy and icy roads can cause your vehicle to skid. Maintain a clear distance from the vehicle in front and depress the brake pedal slowly.
It should be noted that the installation of snow chains will provide greater cross-country ability, but will not prevent side skids.
Note: The use of snow chains may be prohibited by local regulations in some regions (countries). Learn and follow the laws and regulations in force in the region (country), before using snow chains.
Use of high quality ethylene glycol based coolant
The cooling system of your Hyundai vehicle uses high quality ethylene glycol based coolant. Only this type of coolant should be added to the cooling system as it prevents corrosion in the cooling system, lubricates the coolant pump and has a low freezing point. Top up or replace the coolant in the cooling system according to the periodic maintenance chart in the service book. Before the winter season, check the freezing point of the coolant to make sure it is low enough for the temperatures expected in winter in your area (country).
Checking the battery and cables
In winter, the battery system experiences additional loads. The discharge level of your battery can be checked by an authorized Hyundai dealer at a service station.
Go to "winter" engine oil if needed
In some regions it is recommended to use "winter motor oil" with lower viscosity in the cold season. See Section 8 for instructions on how to use it. If you have any doubts about using "winter" engine oil, consult your authorized Hyundai dealer.
Check spark plugs and ignition system
Check your car's spark plugs at the intervals specified in the service book and replace them if necessary. Also check all wiring and components (details) ignition system for cracks, wear or any damage.
Keep castles from freezing
To keep the locks from freezing, call them an approved de-icing fluid or glycerin. If the lock is covered with ice, lubricate it with an approved de-icing fluid to remove the ice. If the lock is frozen from the inside, you can warm it up by inserting a heated key into the lock. Handle the heated key carefully so as not to burn your fingers.
Note: The normal operating temperature for using the immobilizer key is -40°C to +80°C. If you heat the immobilizer key above 80°C to open a frozen lock, it may damage the transmitter in the key head.
Use an approved anti-freeze windshield washer fluid
To keep the water in the windshield washer system from freezing, add an approved antifreeze solution according to the directions on the container. Anti-freeze windshield washer fluid is available from Hyundai dealers and most auto parts stores. Do not use engine coolant or other types of anti-freeze liquids as this may damage the vehicle's paintwork.
Prevent the parking brake from freezing
Under some conditions, your parking brake may freeze in the applied position. This happens when snow or ice builds up around the rear brakes or if the rear brakes are wet. If there is a risk that the parking brake may freeze, apply it only for a while until you move the selector to the position "R" (Automatic transmission) or shift lever to first gear or reverse gear to block the vehicle's wheels, then release the parking brake.
Prevent snow and ice from accumulating under the vehicle
In some conditions, snow and ice can build up under the wings of the vehicle and interfere with steering operation. When driving in severe winter conditions where this may occur, you should periodically check the underside of the vehicle to ensure that the movement of the front wheels and components (details) steering system is not difficult.
Have emergency equipment
Depending on the severity of road conditions in the region (country) where you use the vehicle, you must have emergency equipment. You can have snow chains, tow ropes (chains), signal lights, spade, connecting wires (to start the engine), glass scraper, gloves, bedding, covers, blanket, etc.,
