Infants and young children
In some countries it is mandatory to use child seats when transporting infants and young children in a vehicle. Whether required by regulations or not, the use of a child seat or restraint for infants and young children weighing less than 18 kg is strongly recommended.Note: Small children are best protected when properly secured in a child restraint.
Older children
Children who have become small child seats (child restraints), should be seated in the rear seats and fastened with a combined lap-shoulder seat belt. The lap belt should be pulled tight and positioned so that it runs below the abdomen and is located below the top of the pelvic bone. Otherwise, in the event of an accident, the belt may cut into the child's stomach and injure him. Periodically check that the child is secured in the seat belt. The squirming of a child can change the position of the seat belt. In the event of a traffic accident (accidents) it is safest for children to be in a restraint (child seat), installed in the back seat. older child (over 13 years old), sitting in the front seat must be fastened with a seat belt, and his seat must be in the rearmost position. Children under the age of 13 must sit in the back seat and be properly fastened with a seat belt. Holding fixtures (child seats), in which the child is positioned with his back in the direction of travel of the car, should NOT be installed in the front passenger seat of the car.Pregnant women
Pregnant women are advised to use the seat belts in the car in order to reduce the risk of injury to both the woman and her unborn child in the event of a traffic accident (accidents). The lap belt should be positioned across the hips, as low as possible over the abdomen, and pulled as tightly as possible, but never across the waist. If you have questions, you should consult your doctor.Injured people
When transporting injured people, seat belts must be used. If necessary, consult your doctor. One seat belt must be fastened by one person
The use of one seat belt by two passengers is not allowed (including children). This increases the risk of injury in the event of an accident (accidents).Do not lie down
To reduce the risk of injury, and to maximize the effectiveness of the safety system, all occupants must be in a seated position and the front seat backrests must be in a fully upright position when the vehicle is in motion. The seat belt will not provide adequate protection if the passenger is lying in the rear seat or if the front seat backrest is tilted.Note:
- To reduce the risk of injury in a traffic accident (accidents) or sudden braking while the vehicle is moving, the driver and front passenger seat backrests should be in a position as close to vertical as possible. Even if you are wearing seat belts, their effectiveness is significantly reduced if the driver's and front passenger's seatbacks are tilted.
- The shoulder strap will not be effective as it will not be able to support your body. Instead, it will be positioned in front of you. In the event of a traffic accident (accidents) it will crash into you, which may result in serious injury to the neck or other consequences.
- A waist belt will also be ineffective. In the event of a traffic accident (accidents) it can cut into your stomach and not into your hip bones. This can result in serious internal injury.
- To ensure proper protection while the vehicle is in motion, the seat back should be as upright as possible. After adjusting the seat back, lean on it and fasten the seat belt properly.
