Door lock (Hyundai Sonata EF)

1. The set includes several keys: the main one (one or two) and a spare one. Depending on the vehicle configuration, the following sets of main keys are distinguished: for models with an immobilizer and for models without an immobilizer. For models with a remote control central locking system, the set may also include a remote control key fob. Each key allows you to start the engine, unlock the front side doors, trunk lid or glove compartment.

Note:
  • For security reasons, the key number is not stamped on the key itself, but on a separate number plate. Keep the number plate in a safe place, separate from the keys, outside the car. A new key can be ordered from any authorized HYUNDAI dealer, providing them with the key number.
  • On some models with immobilizer, the main key is painted black and has the "M" emblem, and the training key is painted purple and has only the "HYUNDAI" emblem.

[The original text is published on the website HYUNDAIBOOK.ru]

A microcircuit with a transmitter is built into the ignition key head.

When you insert the key into the ignition switch, the transmitter sends a signal to the control unit to allow the engine to start. This system does not allow the engine to be started with another key or by shorting the ignition switch wires. The engine will only start if the transmitter signal matches the registered signal.

Attention:
  • When the ignition key is in the "ON" position, do not place magnets or metal objects near the key.
  • Do not damage the key with a knife, keychain or other means, because if the built-in microcircuit is damaged, the key will not be able to start the engine.
