Cable-operated gear shift drive
The gear shift cable drive is shown in the figure.
Removal
Gear shift lever with handle removed
Remove the gear shift knob.
Removing the center console
Remove the center console.
Bolts securing the shift and gear selector cables to the bottom of the instrument panel
Loosen the bolts securing the cables to the bottom of the instrument panel.
Remove the locking pin from the gear shift cable end (see subsection "Removal and installation the gearbox").
Remove the locking pin from the gear selector cable end (see subsection "Removal and installation the gearbox").
Remove the shift and selector cable housing stoppers (see subsection "Removal and installation the gearbox").
Remove the gear shift lever housing assembly.
Checking the technical condition
Check the following:
- the correct operation of the gear selection cable and the absence of damage to it;
- the correct operation of the gear shift cable and the absence of damage;
- protective covers of cable ends for damage;
- bushings for wear, abrasion, seizure, reduced mobility and other damage;
- springs for looseness or damage.
Installation
Installation of the gear shift cables is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
