Windshield and rear glass
Removal
To remove the windshield, remove the following parts:
- front pillar trims;
- interior rear view mirror;
- windshield wiper arms;
- air intake niche seal and cover;
- windshield trim.
Cut away the adhesive using tool 09861–31100.
If reusing glass, apply alignment marks to the glass and opening.
Using glass holders (suction cups), remove the windshield.
Installation
Using a cutter or tool 09861–31200, evenly cut off the bead of old adhesive to a thickness of approximately 2 mm from the surface of the glass to be glued along the entire perimeter of the opening flange.
Attention!
- Do not cut the adhesive bead to a thickness less than that specified.
- Take precautions not to damage the paintwork of the body with the cutter. If damaged, restore the paintwork by applying paint.
Clean the windshield opening flange with a sponge soaked in alcohol or a mastic and degreaser remover.
Install spacers into the windshield opening.
Place the new windshield into the opening and use a soft pencil to make marks on the glass and body.
Install the windshield trim, making sure there are no gaps between it and the glass.
Glue a rubber insert to the inner surface of the glass along the entire perimeter of the edge to hold the glue when installing the glass.
Distance from the edge of the glass to the technological rubber insert, mm:
- top edge of glass - 13
- side edge of glass - 13
- lower edge of glass - 29
Apply a thin layer of glass adhesive primer to the outer surface of the rubber insert.
Attention!
- Do not touch the glass with your hands, as this may impair the quality of the bonding and cause leakage at the adhesive joint after installing the windshield.
- Do not apply body adhesive primer to glass.
- Avoid contact of the applied adhesive layer with water, dust and abrasive particles.
Apply adhesive primer to the bottom edge of the glass.
Apply sealant to the glass edges around the entire perimeter.
Note: Apply a layer of glue no later than 5 minutes after applying the adhesive primer.
Apply a thin layer of adhesive primer for body parts to the layer of sealant left on the glass opening flange. After applying the adhesive primer, install the glass no later than five minutes after applying the sealant.
Using suction cups, install the windshield into the opening, aligning the previously applied installation marks, and press the glass onto the sealant layer.
Remove excess glue with a spatula or wipe it off with gauze. Fill all the voids around the perimeter of the glass that were revealed by inspection with glue.
Check the tightness of the windshield by pouring cold water on it, being careful not to damage the fresh adhesive layer with too strong a stream. Pour the glass so that the water runs down the edges of the glass.
If leaks are detected, dry the leak area and apply additional sealant.
Install the previously removed parts.
Attention!
- Do not allow water to come into contact with the windshield for the first hour after installation.
- Do not drive your vehicle for the first four hours after installing your windshield.
- If you must travel, drive at low speed for the first eight hours. Do not slam the doors with all the windows up.
- Avoid exposing the vehicle body to high torsional loads that occur when driving off or onto the roadway or when driving on uneven roads.
Removal and installation of the rear window are carried out in the same way as removal and installation of the windshield, except as indicated below.
To remove the windshield, remove:
- rear window heating element wire connector;
- tailgate trim;
- windshield wiper arm and motor;
- additional brake signal.
Fixed side windows
Fixed side glass: 1 – side glass; 2 – glass overlay; 3 – glass holders; 4 – self-adhesive tape
Removal
To remove the fixed side glass, remove the following parts:
- back seat;
- side paneling;
- rear pillar trim.
Remove the side window holders.
Remove the side glass trim and use a tool to cut off the sealant layer.
Remove the glass.
Installation
Using a cutter or a special device, evenly cut off the old sealant from the surface to be glued down to a layer thickness of 2 mm around the entire perimeter of the glass.
Attention! Do not cut the glue bead to a thickness less than specified and try not to damage the paintwork of the car body with a cutter. If damaged, restore the coating layer by applying paint.
Clean the side window opening flange with a sponge soaked in isopropyl alcohol.
Thoroughly remove any dirt, including oil and dust, from the glass opening flange.
After cleaning the opening flange, wait at least one minute before applying body primer adhesive to the flange.
Apply primer adhesive to the side glass opening flange.
Before applying the primer adhesive for body parts, shake the container with the adhesive thoroughly to obtain a homogeneous mixture.
Apply glass primer adhesive and glass overlay to the glass.
Apply sealant around the entire perimeter of the side glass.
Install the side glass into the body opening.
Note: Install the glass into the body opening no later than 5 minutes after applying the sealant.
