Check the radiator cap for damage, cracks and deterioration (wear etc..) (pic. 2.168).
Check the radiator cap for damage, cracks and deterioration of the gasket material (loss of elasticity).
Attach the plug to the radiator plug tester.

Using a pump, build up pressure until the pressure gauge stops deflecting (pic. 2.169).
The radiator cap is in good condition if the pressure gauge arrow shows a pressure higher than the working pressure for 10 seconds.
