- Remove the rear seat assembly.
- Remove the rear shelf trim.
- Remove the rear pillar trim.
- Remove the rear window lower molding.
- Remove the auxiliary ceiling handles.
Note:
- Wear protective gloves to avoid injury to your hands.
- Use protective covers to avoid damage to vehicle surfaces.
- Be careful not to damage the rear window heating elements and rear window antenna.
2. Disconnect the connectors from the rear window defroster and rear window antenna.
3. Remove a molding of back glass, if necessary use the auxiliary tool.
4. Lower the rear of the roof trim.
Caution: Be careful not to damage the back of the roof trim.
5. The procedure for removing the rear window is similar to the procedure for removing the windshield and is given in the section "Windshield".
- Glass thickness: 3.5mm
Installation
1. Using a knife or a special tool, carefully cut off the remnants of the old adhesive from the side of the body along the entire perimeter of the body opening to a thickness of no more than 2 mm.
Caution: Be careful not to remove any more old adhesive than necessary. Be careful not to damage the painted surfaces of the body with a knife; in case of damage, touch up with paint from the repair kit.
2. Clean the face of the body opening with a sponge moistened with alcohol or an oil and wax remover (degreaser).
3. Establish clamps of fastening of the bottom molding of back glass and stoppers of back glass.
4. If the old rear window is to be reinstalled, using a knife or special tool, carefully cut off the old adhesive residue from the glass and from the side of the body around the perimeter, clean the glass surface with a sponge moistened with alcohol or an oil and wax remover (degreaser).
5. Center the new rear window on the body opening. Using a felt-tip pen, mark the relative position of the glass and the body with lines at four points, as shown in the figure.
6. Apply a thin coat of primer to the surface around the periphery of the glass up to the rubber patch, and then allow it to dry for 15 minutes.
Note:
- Do not apply body primer to the glass.
- Do not touch primed surfaces with your hands. Otherwise, the adhesive connection will be unreliable, which will lead to water leakage into the cabin after installing the windshield.
- Avoid contamination, water and abrasive particles on the primed surface.
7. Glue the rubber pad on the inner surface of the stele around its entire perimeter, as shown in the figure. The overlay is necessary to hold the adhesive during the installation of the glass.
8. Install the rear window molding as shown. When installing, do not allow any gaps to form between the parts.
9. Apply a thin coat of body primer to the adhesive remaining on the body sidewall around the entire body opening. Glass must be installed within 10 minutes after applying the primer.
10. Fill a special container with glue, avoiding the formation of air cavities between layers to ensure continuous application of glue. Place the container in the injection gun (syringe) or similar tool and apply a layer of adhesive evenly around the entire perimeter of the glass.
Note: Apply the adhesive within 5 minutes of applying the primer.
11. Using vacuum suction cups or a special tool, lay the glass on the body opening, aligning the installation marks made earlier in paragraph "5", and lightly press the glass evenly around the entire perimeter for complete adhesion.
12. Remove excess squeezed-out adhesive with a spatula or fine wire mesh.
Note: To remove adhesive from painted surfaces or the rear window, use a soft towel dampened with alcohol.
13. One hour after applying the adhesive, perform a leak test on the adhesive joint of the windshield. When testing for tightness by spraying cold water, be careful not to direct a strong jet of water at the new glass adhesive joints. Water should flow along the edges of the glass.
14. If water leaks into the interior are found, dry the defective area, then apply additional glue.
Note:
- After installing the windshield, leave the vehicle stationary for at least 4 hours. If, for any reason, it is necessary to start using the vehicle within the first 8 hours, it is only allowed to drive at a low speed.
- Ensure that the glass remains dry for 1 hour after installation.
15. After completing the installation of parts, perform the following operations:
- Install the rear seat assembly.
- Install the rear shelf trim.
- Install the rear pillar trim.
- Install the lower rear window molding.
- Install auxiliary ceiling handles.
Note: follow the recommendations below within two to three days after installing the glass:
- Do not slam doors with all windows fully closed.
- Do not allow significant loads on the car body that occur when driving over rough terrain, roads with uneven surfaces and exit / arrival on curbs.
